Longtime Windham and Mansfield area family medicine practitioner, Ken Dardick, MD, at right in the photo below, has been named 2016 Windham Hospital Physician of the Year. Christine Combies, RN, from 4-Shea East (center) and Adriana Figueroa of Public Safety (left) have been named Caregivers of the Year by the Auxiliary to Windham Hospital.
The three were honored on Friday, Dec. 2 at "Sparkle" the Gala, the Auxiliary to Windham Hospital’s 21st Annual black-tie fundraiser at the Marriott Hartford Downtown at Adriaen’s Landing. The auxiliary reviewed nominations from staff and community members.
Dardick, a founding member of Mansfield Family Practice, has been a member of the Windham Hospital Medical staff for more than 40 years. A comment from one of Dr. Dardick’s nominations stated: “Dr. Dardick has provided outstanding medical and health related services to the Storrs and Windham community, and has made significant contributions to the health and safety of the citizens of Connecticut.”
Combies has worked at Windham for 10 years. One of her nominators wrote, “It is easy to see that Christine is compassionate in delivering patient care. She treats each individual with respect and acceptance, and recognizes the diverse needs of our patient community.”
Of Figueroa, who has also worked at the hospital for 10 years, one nomination stated, “Adriana has consistently demonstrated her dedication to excellence in patient care and public service at Windham Hospital. I know of no other person more deserving of the Caregiver of the Year award.”
