  • Accomplished Spine Surgeon Performs First Case at Windham Hospital

    On May 8, 2017, Dr. Daniel George performed a lumbar (lower back) discectomy in the Windham Hospital operating room. It was the first time in more than 13 years that spine surgery was performed at the hospital. The same day procedure, which removes herniated disc material that is pressing on a nerve root or the spinal cord, was a success with the patient being able to leave the hospital just hours after surgery.

    The Auxiliary to Windham Hospital is seeking applications from area high school seniors for the Anne L. Card Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship, named in honor of the late Anne L. Card who was a 50-plus year member of the Auxiliary and a dedicated volunteer at the hospital, awards two $1,000 scholarships to students planning to enter a full-time course of study in medical related fields.
