To help kick off of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Windham and Backus hospitals, with the help of the Hartford Hospital Digital Mammography Coach, will host a Breast and Women’s Health Expo on October 8, from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. outside of Windham High School, at 355 High St, Willimantic.

Free mammograms will be offered for women 40 and older who have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months. The Hartford Hospital Digital Mammography Coach, operated by the Partnership for Breast Cancer (PBC), Hartford Hospital’s comprehensive resource for breast cancer, and the Hartford Hospital’s Imaging Center/Radiology is the only program of its kind serving areas in central and northern Connecticut.

The Backus Mobile Health Resource Van and the Backus Hospital Care Van will also be onsite for free clinical breasts exams and blood pressure screenings. Clinicians will be on-hand to provide breast health and women’s health education.

Registration for mammograms and clinical breast exams is preferred. To register or to learn more about the event call 860.456.6896
