Auxiliary to Windham Hospital to Honor Physician, Caregiver and Philanthropist of the Year During 18th Annual Autumn Gala

November 16, 2013

The Auxiliary to Windham Hospital will honor the hospital’s Physician, Caregiver and Philanthropist of the year during its 18th Annual Autumn Gala, “Viva Las Vegas,” on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Marriott Hartford Downtown.

Charles Shooks, MD, an internist and former chief of staff who has practiced at Windham Hospital for more than 30 years, is the Auxiliary’s Physician of the Year. Kristin Tefft, RN, who has worked as a medical/surgical nurse in the hospital’s Greer Unit for nearly 15 years, is Caregiver of the Year. In addition, Dr. Robert and Beverly Bundy will receive an award as Honored Philanthropists for 2013 for more than two decades of support to the Auxiliary and to Windham Hospital.

The evening will kick off with a “Las Vegas-style Review” which will include some “celebrity” surprises. Following dinner and presentation of the awards, guests will dance to the music of The Cartells. In addition, art students from Eastern Connecticut State University, under the leadership of Professor June Bizantz, will create the table centerpieces depicting landmark Las Vegas hotels and casinos.

“This event is the premier social event for the greater Windham area and is sure to be a night to remember,” says event chair and Auxiliary board member Katharine Grunigen.
